Blessings in a Backpack
During the month of March, 2018, Church of the Advent Episcopal Church took our turn to be the lead congregation in Williamston, NC for the ministry Blessings in a Backpack. This program, which is served by several local Williamston churches, provides six items of food for at-risk students identified by school staff to take home for use during the weekend.
Volunteers met at Memorial Baptist Church fellowship hall at 109 West Church Street in Williamston, each Wednesday morning in March from 9:30 - 10:30, to unpack and organize food items and repack them into plastic bags. The packed bags are then placed into larger courier bags for delivery by church volunteers to the schools participating in the program.
